Split-Back Veer from its hayday

I purchased my copy of Axman's book from a bargain bin while in college. Back then, I was a child of the wishbone and immediately recognized its value due to the blocking breakdown chapters focused upon the 52, College 43, Pro 43, Split 4, Wide Tackle Six, and Goal-line 65. Surprisingly, the blocking schemes are not that dated. Most modern defenses are either variations or combinations of those mid-70's base defenses. Added are other chapters centered upon the veer's philosophy, playaction passing game, and innovative additions.
The title is slightly misleading because there is little included about multiple formations. However, several play diagrams are drawn from various sets: twins, flexed tight end, two tight ends, tight slot, and standard pro.
Since becoming a veer disciple, this book has become invaluable as it presents a variety of blocking schemes and solving difficult blocking problems.
I would highly recommend that anyone who is interested in option football would be wise to invest money in a copy.

The Veer vs. Defense

This book does a very good job of explaining the Veer philsophy and its principles. It does not deal with newer three front defenses but you can adjust the Five front attacks for the running Veer attack. It is a must addition to any Offensive Coordinator for High school or college.
